Greeting from myVidster.com
« on: June 23, 2009, 06:04:12 PM »
My name is Marques creator of myVidster, a video bookmarking service.  I have been following phpdirector since its creation.  While our projects both involve video aggregation we are quite different.  The main difference is that phpD is OSS and myV is not.  The other is that myV is a multi-user service and phpD is admin driven.

**TIP** If you want phpD is be successful focus your development around the embed tag and don't worry too much on hard coding popular video host.  There are too many and they change their code ALL THE TIME.  I was on the same path as you and I have to do a lot of rework to myVidster so that users would not get turn off when they attempted to bookmark an unsupported video or a video host like dailymotion changed their code.

If you run into any road blocks in development feel free to contact me, I have learn a lot about video aggregation over that last 3 years.

In the end I want everyone to succeed.  I have been in this market for some time and it is not easy and most of my competitors have given up.  Also if you have any interested in myVidster, feel free to contact me.

Marques

Welcome.
At one time, I used your site as reference in building a plugin for Social Media.
Unfortunately, it was never finished as my PC time is null during summer months.

Yes please contact me anytime if you guys run into any development issues and thanks for the feedback!

Dudditz sorry to hear that you did not finished your plugin.  Honestly I have taken a break from any major coding during the summer and will resume back at 100% in the fall.  I live in the Midwest and I only have 2 and half months to enjoy the weather.

Is phpD storing the thumbnails locally?  If not you should, hotlinking youtube thumbnails sometimes do not show up on remote sites.
