Subcategories, mass import videos from feed, Veoh support
« on: October 08, 2009, 09:32:27 PM »
Hi guys,
I've been looking for a tool to display Youtube vid's on my website. Now I'm sticking with Phpdirector, I really like it, nice cms, and above all it's free.
I thought I'd share my ideas to improve the tool...
1) Subcategories. Having only main categories can be annoying sometimes especially with many vid's. I would really love this feature to be added.
2) Mass import from RSS feed. This can import all the videos uploaded by a single user (http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/base/users/USERNAME/uploads) or playlist. Of course, admins should be able to approve/deny those feeds like normal vid's.
3) Veoh support. Veoh is a free streaming service like Youtube.

Ok, that's it. I would be happy with just the subcategories feature, hope you'll consider my request.
Thanks  ;D

I like the mass Import idea. Thought about it a while back but never posted the idea.

Can these feeds also have a feature to auto approve too?

Also think it really needs a mass import function, to be able to put in a youtube user ID and import all their videos would be great but also just to be able to upload a list of URLS in one go would save me loads of time, at the moment i have to enter a URL then manually type in all the info for the video, title, description etc. so if we could somehow have it to import all the video info as well.

Then the last thing as someone said above is to have an auto approve function, many people viewing my site will expect to see their submitted URLS within minutes, if the webmaster doesn't login each day then it may takes ages before videos appear. Most admins want to just sit and leave the sites run themselves and check in every now and then to see everyting is ok or remove bad videos so an auto approve is really needed.

Of course i'd eventually integrate adsense into php director to display ads next to videos, this would really make it more appealing. Like how www.flixya.com has it, that is the main draw of this site that u get to keep all the ad revenue for you videos.

great work your doing with this software, thnx again...
